Plastic Bottle Caps: Lightweight and Economical
Plastic bottle caps are the most common type, primarily made of polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). These two materials are lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to process. PE caps are soft and flexible, suitable for beverage bottles that require frequent opening and closing; PP caps are harder and more durable, commonly used for mineral water or condiment bottles. Plastic bottle caps offer good sealing and can be made in various colors by adding masterbatches.
Metal Bottle Caps: High-End and Retro
Metal bottle caps are often used in beer, soft drinks, and other applications requiring better sealing. The main materials are tinplate or aluminum. Tinplate caps are highly rigid and can withstand significant pressure, often with cork gaskets to enhance the seal; aluminum caps are lighter, and the pull-tab design makes opening easier. Metal bottle caps are not only durable but can also be printed with exquisite designs, enhancing the product's perceived quality.
Composite Materials: More Powerful Functions
To meet special needs, some bottle caps are made of composite materials. For example, the inner layer uses PE to ensure sealing, while the outer layer uses PP to enhance wear resistance; or light-blocking materials are added to the plastic to protect the contents. Some bottle caps also have built-in silicone gaskets to further improve the sealing effect. These types of bottle caps are more expensive, but they can meet multiple performance requirements at the same time and are suitable for products with strict storage requirements, such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
